It's that time of year again - the Bay Area's flagship film festival, the San Francisco International Film Festival once again brings a richness of films and celebrities to the city for a celebration of cinema.

From April 23 to May 7, theaters in San Francisco and at the Pacific Film Archive in Berkeley, will show some of the best films made around the world in the past year. There's also a selection of some restored prints from three filmmakers who helped to define post-war Italian cinema - Michelangelo Antonioni's LE AMICHE, Federico Fellini's NIGHTS OF CABIRIA, and Sergio Leone's ONCE UPON A TIME IN THE WEST.

There will be tributes and awards - to film icon Francis Ford Coppola, Hollywood star Robert Redford, and also younger stars like Elijah Wood and Evan Rachel Wood (above) who shone in ACROSS THE UNIVERSE and THE WRESTLER.

The festival also features a great selection of films from Asia including two acclaimed works from India, MOHAN DAS which deals with the topical subject of identity theft; and CHATARUNGA (FOUR STORIES, below) a tale of materialism and spiritualism based on Rabindinath Tagore's classic novella of the same name.
