MISTULA (1986) - one of the pioneering independent Filipino films by Raymond Red

The Mowelfund Film Museum

Roger Garcia visits the Mowelfund Film Museum in Manila and is taken on a tour of its exhibition by founder and curator Nick Deocampo.

The tour becomes a walk through the history of Filipino cinema, from its beginnings with Jose Nepucemeno (the Father of Filipino Cinema), through Japanese collaboration during the Second World War, the pioneering studio of LVN created by Dona Sisang, the masters of modern Filipino cinema Lino Brocka and Ishmael Bernal, right up to the birth of the independent Filipino cinema of today that was created by Nick Deocampo and Raymond Red.
