Cinepod's Chanel Kong interviews master action filmmaker John Woo about his latest film RED CLIFF a spectacular epic based on the Chinese classic "Records of the
Historian" during the Warring States period. The film combines Woo's artistry, China's emerging film industry
resources and talents, and Hollywood know-how to produce a film in the grand style that has been rarely seen since the 1960s.
Chanel also takes a look at some of Woo's influences, and the filmmaker's path from his humble beginnings
in Hong Kong, through his pioneering work in the Hong Kong film industry, to the pinnacles of A-List directors in Hollywood
making films with John Travolta, Nicolas Cage and Tom Cruise, and his return to his roots in Chinese filmmaking.
"I've always wanted to make a film like Lawrence of Arabia,"
Woo explains about the influences on his new film Red Cliff in his interview, "and
now I've done it."
