Cinepod's Chanel Kong previews the upcoming San Francisco International Film Festival (April 21 to May 6), one of
the Bay Area's premier cultural events. She interviews the festival's Director of Programming Rachel Rosen, on this
year's range of films and awardees. Roger Garcia takes a look at some of this year's festival
offerings including the Malaysian independent film WOMAN ON FIRE LOOKS FOR WATER (dir. Woo Ming-Jin) and also some of
the French films being shown including opening night film MICMACS by Jean-Pierre Jeunet, and a return to form from master
auteur, Alain Resnais with his new feature WILD GRASS.
Memories of cinema - Alain Resnais returns to form with his new feature WILD GRASS. Resnais has always been the filmmaker
of memories, illusions, the surreality of everyday life. WILD GRASS begins with a man finding a wallet in an underground garage
- an oblique reference to the tunnel that leads to a latterday Wonderland with an off-beat reality.
Jean-Pierre Jeunet will be in town for the opening night screening of his latest film MICMACS. Fans of CITY OF LOST CHILDREN
and AMELIE will not be disappointed!
